I lost my anchor a few weeks ago and need to replace the whole thing. Has anyone ever ordered the pre-sliced chain to rope anchor rode before? I've looked at a few places but have not yet seen anything ready for up to 45' boat. I also want to make sure I can trust it. Last time I replaced the rope, I had my marina do the splice.

Thanks,
Paul

I prefer to do my own splicing - for the reason you mentioned. To be sure I can trust it. While most manufacturers of pre-made rigs put out a perfectly reliable splice, I wouldn't trust a marina to do it unless I knew they had someone with some experience doing it - not someone in the back that does it once or twice a month if a customer happens to ask for it, whose total training and experience is the Samson instructions (not to knock the Samson methods - it's exactly what I use).

Thanks. I actually trust this particular guy at my marina more than I trust myself - as I don't trust myself!

You have to have a salty kind of guy at your Marina that will splice for you.

I would do it for you if you were closer.

I have done my own and ordered pre spliced from Defender. It was good quality.

I always did my own. Sometimes, if the Line is some poly stuff, your better off buying the spliced stuff.

Our rode was pre-spliced. Ordered from Maxwell at the same time we did the windlass install. Seems good.
