Uh, oh, this is our longest dry spell in quite some time. So I thought I'd better post something. I am all aches and pains today - finished putting my winter frame and cover together on the big boat and running up and down that !#$%^R&^! ladder 100 times. Last night I could barely move!!!

Anyway, now we can start looking at all the winter projects for our boats. Any ideas out there???
 
I just put the Lady M into her winter slip. Finished the eng & Gen winterization. Other water systems were done a few weeks ago. I don't know about you but I'll take the Global Warming to avoid this sad chore.
So the countdown begins 4.5 months to go - Early April I'm looking to power up with block heaters on standby.
 
Pete, we're doing Avil cocktails and all we did was tarp the boat! Being in the marina barn with inches between boats made it a chore! Next year we'll have it done says the Cap.

Maybe this is the reason for slow activity here:

'Twas the night before haulout and all through the docks
Not a creature was stirring, not even the flocks

The Dri Bags were hung in the cabin with care
In hopes that the mildew would not be there

The Northeast Carvers were tucked in their beds
while visions of no clogs danced in their heads

And Mamma in her parka & I in my boat cap
were forced to settle for a long Winter's nap....
 
Put "The Dog House" a nice roomy slip in a storage building last week...wintereized the whole mess, brought the canvas and upholstery home. My partner's mom is going to make new covers for the bow cushions and new curtains to finally get rid of the "dead peacock" material (anyone with a late 80's Montego knows what I'm talking about!) Thinking of painting the blue accent stripe and replacing the tape striping around the boat.
 
I don't want to spoil the party but on the Tennessee Rive we are enjoying a beautiful fall and I plan to go to the boat this weekend and start to enjoy the winter boating season. The only thing that will get in the way is all the Christmas and holiday parties. Nice comprimize...
 
Our Carver is a 150 miles away, near Bremerton. But....we will be paying it a visit along with 3 of 6 kids (ages 15.21,23) the day after Thanksgiving. We're hoping to reserve a guest moorage in Seattle so the admiral and crew can get a start on Christmas shopping.

They shop....I read.
 
I am literally sitting on my boat on the Chicago river, living aboard this winter. Lets see how this goes!
 
Hey....the Double Eagle is on the hard and thoughts of boating are as distant as 85 degree weather here. I'll make an effort to pay more attention.
 
Well, my boat is sitting on land under a tarp, but I'll be boating next week anyway - in FLORIDA!!!
 
The river rarely freezes but I have bubblers standing by. Hell it was 58 degress yesterday and the day before! I am taking a last cruise up the river to the lake this Saturday and winterizing my engines.... Shrinkwrapping in 2 or 3 weeks with clear shrinkwrap.
 
Clear shrinkwrap, that's interesting. I wonder what the advantage is, if any, over white or blue shrinkwrap. Or maybe its just preference???
 
We use clear wrap on our new and used boats. It lets people see the boat, and the true color of the interior. One drawback that we've noticed is that sun does affect things...not supposed to, but it does.
 
Ah, boat projects. A topic near and dear to me.

Household rumor has it that Santa is bringing me a sewing machine for Christmas, so I am getting in touch with my feminine side....... well, actually, I need to repair and modify our canvas enclosure, and while I have never used a sewing machine, I figure that since I can use a table saw, it shouldn't be that much different.
 
A sewing machine is kind of like the opposite of a table saw.
 
Nail the flu shut, pretend you're Jewish - do whatever it takes - but keep the blasted sewing machine out of the house!

I thought I could get my dock neighbor to sew some custom eisen covers for me last winter. It didn't work out that way. Before I knew it, there was a borrowed sewing machine in the salon and I was getting sewing lessons.

I'll stick to table saws. After 20 minutes, I was really tempted to see how big a splash it would make when dropped over the side.
