overheat warning horn

Have to install an overheat warning horn/ buzzer. It seems that you have to use a seperate sender than your temperature gauge. Was also told that "teeing it in" would make both innacurate being they will be further removed from the block.Is there another way to do this? Is there another place to mount the horn sender? Volvo 5.0 (305 gm)
