Grumble Grumble
Just when I think I was getting done.
My boat is an 89 supra mariah, with a PCM 351. This is an inboard-- with a sherwood raw water pump. It is new to me, with a dubious repair history.
It hadn't been running well, so I was doing a complete tuneup. I replaced the the points, cap, condensor and such. All I needed to was set the timing.
So for about five to ten minutes I was intermittently running the engine at idle, checking the timing, turning it off, adjusting the distributor, and such, and doing it again. When I was finished, I looked that the boat and it the temp was high. It was well above 210, but I don't think it was pegged, so hopefully it wasn't beyond 220.
It turns out my wife had pulled on the hose, and had partially dislodged the fake-a-lake. There was some water getting in, but I don't know if any of it was making to the engine.
After the engine cooled off I started it up ran it for a while (this time with water) and it seemed to run ok-- running just above 160. So I am hoping with all hope that I did not damage the engine.
But I am more worried about the impeller. My mechanics replaced the impeller this spring-- and it maybe has 5 hours on it. Should I replace it again-- if for no other reason than to be safe?
