Ken:
I am thinking of, and will probbably get an extension swim platform for my 1989 Carver 2557...Swim platforms.com has never done a platform for this style of boat, and are asking for the transom specs for the boat...Is this something you can provide for me?...

I don't think I can get them anymore...Carver used paper back then and most of it is stored deep in their basement. I will see tomorrow if I can get them for you.

Are they going to make one that bolt over top of your existing one, or bolt to the trailing edge to extend? I would think making one to bolt over (completely covering) would be a better, more sturdy way to go, but I'm not the expert..lol

Over the existing is the way they are reccomending, and the way I want to go...What's your feeling on doing this, and what overall length do you think i should go?...

I like the idea...when I had my 2557, I always thought the platform was too small. I would probably go an additional 2 feet, maybe 3, for my usage...it would make it close to what new boat platforms are. you mat have to make some sort of pattern for them so it fits correctly. A guy that docks where I work had one made for his 24 Maxum, and it looks (almost) factory aside from a slight color difference and nonskid pattern difference...very useful though.
