A beautiful XKE drove by last night. Hard-top, burnt red or brown paint. Being almost as much of a car-guy as I am a boat guy, I was too pre-occupied to look at the driver, but it stuck me 30 seconds later that I know of someone in the area with a similar vehicle, but I don't know the color.

Pasc, were you in the neighborhood of Blue (36th) recently?

nope, i'm in Bimini this week!... mine is Silver, V12 coupe 2+2... dont see too many of these on the street, there is a dark burgundy coupe like mine in the brickel/key biscayne are, i've see it aorund a few times... blue road? near the gables? there are a few car collectors around there... :-)

Bimini - cool! I hope you had a good NYE. (but you missed a good fireworks show back here)

I did a brief google research exercise, but I wasn't successful in gaining an understanding of the XKE lineage. I couldn't find a coupe that isn't a 2+2. Does such an animal exist, or were the convertables 2 seaters and the coupes 2+2?

The one I saw may have been burgandy. I'll keep a lookout for it.

At any rate, what an incredibly beautiful car.

Pascal coming back from Nassau I passed over Bimini yesterday at about 5.15pm while descending to 6,000 . I had time to look but did not see the boat. Enjoy your trip wish I was out there but I have to get some pax from Grand Cayman back to St. Johns Canada on monday.
I am trying to get in at the marina, I am not renewing the contract at Miami Beach, do you have any pull on your end?

SLW, when they created the series 3 in mid 71 with the V12, they only did the long bas version, either as a Roadster or a 2+2 Fixed Head Coupe (to use the proper desgination). So with the V12s, the coupe and 2+2s are the same things.

Prior to 71s, the 6 cylinders where available as a roadster, a coupe (two seater) or a 2+2. The 2+2 had the longer wheelbase, while the coupe and roadster had the short wheel base, and hard to get in if you're over 5'9...

the rooflines of the Coupe are better than the 2+2, but the extra 9" of wheel base and the small rear seat are nice!

Cor,

we were back already, came in friday night. We were out on the bay yesterday afternoon, on charter.
