[Living Water]

Plan first trip from Croton to Sailors Haven Thursday morning. My friends would like to join us later that day coming by train from the city. Since the last ferry from Sayville leaves at 5 p.m. there is a chance that they'll miss it. Is there a place I can pick them up on my boat (24')? Or should they take the ferry to Cherry Grove (last one 11 p.m.) Is it long or hard walk from there? (I'm taking all their stuff with me on the boat).

Walk from the Grove to Sailor's is 20-30 mins depending on how fast you walk. Think I've done it in 15. Well marked path. Just have bug spray.

The walk from Cherry Grove isn't bad, as Liquid Diet said it's not much more than 20 minutes. If they don't feel like walking it's only a few dollars each to take a water taxi over from there. I think that would be easier than you having to go across the bay and pick them up in Sayville.

I am sure you can pick your friends up near or at the ferry dock in Sayville. Another option would be, if they come before dark you can have a water taxi take them from Cherry Grove to SH, the Taxi does not go to SH after dark. Water Taxi # on FI is 631-665-8885. But the walk from the Grove is not long at all. In fact it is easy and there are sidewalks/paths with maybe a little beach traverse, if I recall on the bayside. You could walk to meet them so you have the route back, hang in Cherry’s for drinks and cheer the sunset. Note… after dark the Grove can go from PG13/R to whatever…
