Recently bought a Garelick flush mount unit and thought I could use a different pedestal which I had original to the boat as well as the table top . I used 5" bolts with washers and a 3/4" back plate . I need to buy the correct Garelick pedestal to fit properly into the plate but my question is with the table top . I would like to make one out of cherry in an oval measuring 32" x 16" . Has anyone done this before, is what I have done up to this step correct ? Do all pedestal tables give a little ?

Out boat came with a Pedestal table and I took it out and replaced it with a table with legs. I found the Pedestal table was always in the way as it is a fixed unit. You could still make one from cherry in an oval measuring 32" x 16", but it doesn't have to be a Pedestal type.
There was a thread on here some time ago where someone posted pics of a table they had made and it was a nice looking table, but I cant find that thread.

Wayne , did your table have a single pedestal 30" or a gas powered unit ? What shape was your old table top ?

single pedestal 30"...The table top was rectangle with rounded corners.

I built mine out of oak. I doubled it where the mounts meat and down the middle for stregth. the edge are single 3/4 thick. Coated it with West System Epoxy.
