Personal Drone

I wonder if you can add little foam pads so that it floats?

I think that a drone flying in my personal "airspace" would get me wondering if #6 shot would be appropriate for making it disappear. We were in the Aegean (Mikonos) a couple months ago when our crowd was buzzed by a pretty significant drone. If anything went awry, people would have been at risk of a hit or a stampede.

When they crash, they probably don't land right side up and although it could float, I understand the electronics are ruined.

I'm thinking skeet practice. Four rotors is like four clays...with one shot...awesome!

I'm going to have a rocket launcher on mine so make sure you get me with the first shot.

The Phantom Vision 2 has become a popular choice here in Ocean City area. Not cheap at around $800 but you can see what your filming and, most importantly, if you let it go out of range it will automatically return to home base. Its popularity is shown by the fact it is now out of stock.

Walter-I hear you and agree if the primary purpose was for land but I have read where eventually the likelihood of crashing is pretty high and once the phantom hits the water, it's basically a goner. I don't mind dumping a $100 unit but would be a really bad to dump over a grand. The only issue is I have not been able to find enough reviews on the Mariner to be comfortable yet.

I feel the same Hank, but with no reviews on the Mariner, and seeing the DJI is way ahead of the curve and the GPS, no brainer. I will say, this technology will change daily.

Very cool but at $3,500, it's way more then I would be willing to spend. I should have my $100 crash dummy this weekend. My guess is that it will be in several pieces by Sunday.

Never checked the price but it is cool. You'll be ready to upgrade in no time once you master your crash test dummy.

Saw David Pogue's review (I trust him implicitly) and got one. Love it. If you read the reviews you will see that, like just about everything, it has not been without its issues for some people, but I'm guessing it's more operator error than anything. Really take the time to learn how to fly it. I think a lot of people treat these devices in the higher price-points as toys rather than as they would a sophisticated piece of electronic gear. The technology they've packed into this device is simply stunning. I control mine with the latest generation iPad Air and have had great success. While the video quality doesn't match my GoPro I am very happy with the way it shoots for how I use it.

I read his review when I started looking at the bebop. He is positive about it.

I am looking at the Phantom 2 Vision + V3.0.

Has all the goodies and then some.
