We'll be cruising to Petaluma for the week-end for the first time.
Any recommendations on what to do and where to eat?

There's a little coffee shop/bakery just above the West docks. I would pad up there early in the morning for my cup of French roast coffee and pastry.

Take the bridge across the turning basin and there's a decent brew pub. You can catch the ball game here Around the corner from the brew pub is a VERY good Italian restaurant. There is a concert hall within a block of the dock. I'm not sure what they're playing though.

In the downtown you'll find all kinds of different stores. We enjoyed looking through the antique stores. The downtown district would remind you more of San Francisco than anywhere else.

I would appreciate hearing how your Petaluma trip went. We are doing the same cruise in a couple weeks and we had a lot of discussion in one of the previous threads about the navigational problems associated with San Pablo Bay. I would love to hear how your trip went. Thanks

We will leave tomorrow morning from Alameda to come back on Monday. I'll tell you how the trip went.

It depends on what you're looking for. I would say that the best place hands down is The Waterfront Grill. But be prepared to have a big dent in your wallet. Dempsy's Brewery right next door is pretty good, is also on the water, and doesn't cost as much. Mcnears Saloon right across the river from these places makes a great omlette and has an extensive menu for both breakfast and lunch.

Those are the only places I have been to, but I never left any of these restaurants unhappy. And the best thing is that all of these restaurants are real close to where your boat will be docked.
