PHEII - Problem

Okay, I have 2 PHEII heads on my 1985 Carver, one (forward head) is pumping water and cleans out the bowl with every flush but it is very loud (kerplunk, kerplunk, kerplunk) unless I spray WD-40 on the piston and the connecting rod ass'y.

The other one (aft head) doesn't pump much water and spits water out of the air valve and also is very loud unless I spray the WD-40 on the piston and the connecting rod ass'y.

Vic, can you advise what I need to do to get these back into shape and if I need a repair kit, which one (or two) I need to solve any or all of these problems?

My other question is, should I scrap the idea of rebuilding these heads and spend the money to purchase new electric heads being that these are 20+ years old?

Kurt, if it were I, I wouldn't put the bucks into trying to get those old relics up and running. They're 20 years old!

Take a look at Raritan's SeaEra conversion kit. The SeaEra is a great head! The SeaEra is electric-only, and doesn't have a manual backup. But you've got a power boat. Be honest now, have you ever had to use (or chosen to use) the manual backup? The conversion kit saves you a little cash by allowing you to re-use your existing toilet bowl and seat, by transferring them to the new base unit.

The SeaEra is normally oriented front to rear, but it can also be mounted sideways (if depth is a consideration) and the bowl can be mounted in any position necessary - in 90 degree rotations. Mounting it sideways will put all your plumbing at the rear, and more or less out of the way.
