This is not a new set(because I was experimrnting) but they still had a few more years left in them.
I made plugs from 3/8" round stock and ground to fit the water passages.
My welding buddy tried welding them up with 95%(?) nickle (arc weld) but they began to crack. I found some 55% nickle MIG wire that I tried. I ran short 3/8" beads and immediately ground them down hoping to keep shrinkage to a minimum. No cracks!
Looks like a bunch of pits and voids in the surface but they aren't in any joint areas so I think it'll work.
We'll see what happens when I finally get the boat in the water.
