Hi all,
I will first say that I have very little mechanical knowledge. I try to learn as much as possible at every turn however. Tonight, (after I fixed the washing machine on the boat), I started the genset for the 2nd time this season and went below to make sure all was ok (its a silverton 39 motor yacht). I noticed a bright green, slight viscosity fluid (maybe an ounce total) in the drip pan area of the genset. I felt the oil filter and got just a touch of oil from the seal at the end on my finger (near the gasket), ok, so I will tighten down the filter a nudge. but, what is this mystery bright green fluid. I saw no drips from anywhere and watched the genset run for about 5 minutes and looked for the source but could not find it. The antifreeze/coolant is dexcool (pink) and the fluid was not oil. In fact, I noticed some had dried further along the pan and kind of crystalized into a greenish grey crystal. Help please. I want to avoid major damage, if it is brewing.
