Basic problem here, just don't know the best way to start.

The white nav light on the transom is getting power when the switch is turned on, however there is no ground to complete the circuit.

The easy fix would be to simply pick up another ground from somewhere nearby, like the bonding system, however I prefer to handle this the right way.

Your comments are appreciated.

Don't use the bonding system that's not what it was intended for. Find another close ground or the closest point where the existing ground wire that feeds the nav light is crimped. Trace backwards from the light fixture. More than likely the crimp is where the ground connection is lost. Bad or corroded crimps are the #1 failure point in a circuit like this.

If possible I woudl trace the black wire from the fixture and try to find the problem. There may be other devices attached to the same feed which may also be about to have issues.
