Ok, I purchased the HF variable speed polisher and used the foam pad included to apply the finess polish then treewax. The job came out great except for a two things. 1, I used a whole can of treewax, which is a large can. I tried to use less except as I went along, it appeared that nothing was getting on the surface. the second thing is that the foam pad is caput!. When I tried to pull it off of the velcro surface (hook and loop) the edge pulled off and the foam feels that it will no longer be useful. So, Is there something I should have done different? Also, I need to know what replacement pads should I get to; apply finess, apply and remove wax. Actual product numbers from boatfix would be great because there are so many, it's confusing. Thanks.

A few questions for you:
1. What speed did you do the work at (i.e., min, mark one, mark two, etc)?
2. Where did your foam pads come from?
3. What color were the foam pads?
Thanks

I applied the finess with mark II, the foam pad was include with the buffer and it was white.

I'm almost to the point of posting this once a week: I don't like foam pads. I find them harder to work with. More compound is necessary and I've yet to achieve a wool-quality shine using foam.

SLW, I take it you use a wool pad as an applicator. For what it's worth, it make sense to me. I just can't make sense of what to order for the HF buffer.

I should back up: my rants about foam are during the polishing stages, not waxing. I've had success applying wax with white foam pads and the orbital PC 7424.

I've got the HF buffer too. The foam pad and the white wool pad are just plain garbage! Maguires makes velcro wool pad and foam pads that work great with the velcro disk on the buffer. Invest in some good pads and you'll be very pleased.

yes it is. theres one problem.
the other is, use a wool pad to polish with. a foam pad is great for after the inital polish to remove swirl marks, or to remove compound wax

I am glad to hear it wasn't just me.
Mike, I was hoping you would respond. What are the boatfix numbers for the wool pads that I should use with this polisher.

Thanks guys

Mike,
Will those velcro wool pads fit on a 7" velcro backing pad, as the description did not say what diameter they are?

i believe those would be the 9" pads. they will fit on a 7" but it takes more to center it. a centering tool makes that easy though...
