Hey Guys

Never owned a boat with a little cuddy cabin and a port a potti. Only had full cabins.

I have a basic port a potti (original to boat but never used) in the cabin. On the bow there is an area marked pump out. Cap unscrews and you would pump out..

What exactly would I be pumping out? Is there a way to connect a basic port a potti to lines and make it a pumpable head? There is no holding tank, it would be the little area on the bottom of the toilet itself...

is it possible or am I missing something..

Interesting question. It might be possible. But perhaps more trouble than it's worth. And the tank might collapse when you try to suck it out.

It is quite possible that the porta potti is connected to a pump-out fitting. Look to see if there is a hose from the head to the fitting, if so, you pump it out just like a regular holding tank.

My last boat was a Larson cuddy. It had a porta potty that was plumbed to be pumped out.

Wow, I really thought I was asking a stupid question. Im going to have to take a better look and see whats going on with this PP.

Thanks guys

The boat in my sig line had one of those. (I think Charlie has the same boat.) Could pump out at the dock or seal it off and carry it to a place to empty it. (Had to do that at a floating outhouse once.) Only about 5 gallon capacity as I recall. Not ideal to use, but nice to have if you needed it.

ETA, mine was enclosed in a WC that allowed a bit of privacy. At 6' 1", however I really couldn't sit on the throne without the door being open. There were workarounds to allow appropriate privacy. Like I said, not ideal, but nice to have as an option.

Probably an uninstalled option. Perhaps the maker can provide info on how it was used.

There is a reason the potty was never used , they are a pita.

I have a similar Thetford model, but no pumpout. Mine has the same thing with a screw-on cap. When full, or at the end of the season, I dump it into a toilet and then rinse repeat. I looked at that parts list in the link and there appears to be a hose to the left of the pumpout spout. I bet that's a vent or it would definitely collapse in on itself. You could also just leave the sliding waste gate open, which would also prevent a collapse. You still have to add some water and chemical to this potti after you empty it.

Had one of those in a 24' express. The 'MSD' is essentially a PP that's secured in place and plumbed with vent and pumpout hoses. The fresh water (top) tank is removable for filling, the waste tank s not. IMO, it's a terrible idea. Almost no waste capacity (only 2.6 gallons) and you have to go to a pumpout station for the 10 seconds it takes to empty it. I hated that thing.

My dad lined the porta potty with plastic bags. If you used it, you carried it off yourself. We all learned to hold it in pretty quick.
