I have 350/270hp FWC Crusaders. My counter rotating port eng runs 15 to 20 degrees warmer than my standard rotating starb eng.
I am looking for some troubleshooting ideas to resolve this problem.
The particulars: At 2000rpms and displacement speed both eng run 160 degrees. At 3200rpms and planing speed, my starb eng runs 180 degrees and my port eng runs 195. As I increase the rpms to 3400, both eng temp increase to 185 starb and 200 port. The temps stabilize and do not get any hotter.
I have check the temps on the temp gauges (upper and lower stations) and with my infared gun(I actually have numerous other readings I made with my infared gun, but they did not show me anything to focus on).
I changed out the port water pump impeller and crossed over the water intank hoses so the starb pickup fed the port water pump. I have cleaned the port heat exchanger. I have not changed out the thermostat. Also, when I replaced the risers about 4 years ago, I used the restricted flow / higher pressure 1-hole gasket vs the 3-hole gasket on both engs. And finally, my hot water heater is fed off my starb eng coolent.
