I have been looking at getting a dinghy and have run into something called a Porta-Bote (a folding boat).
Has anyone her used one of these? I would like to hear some pros and cons.
From reading their informational material what I like is:
- Portability (can store it at home without much hassle)
- Light weight
- Folds and can be carried in the swim platform without a having to add a davit
- Appears to run faster than an inflatable dinghy (can do with smaller engine)
- Good for rowing as well
- Stability (at least that is what they claim)
- has benches as opposed to having to sit on the inflatable tubes
What I do not like:
- Not very attractive (looks like an unfinished contraption)
- No cleats or handles
- Cannot figure where to tie an anchor
- Do not see many out there... maybe there is a good reason for that.
Opinions welcome...
Luis
