Wake up guys!

Sitting here dreaming of spring and doing a little pre-planning for our summer vacation.

Last year, we went to Wildwood and Atlantic City.

This year, I'm thinking that since we basically like to hang out and eat, why run all the way down there. Instead I'm thinking about a stop in either Belmar, Point Pleasant or Barnegat on the way to AC. If I were going to stay a few nights, which would be the destination of choice?

I'm awake....I'm awake...!!!!

I've stayed over in Belmar twice. I enjoy the area very much for walking the town, going to dinner and hitting the beach. The marina itself is OK, as it provides the basics....floating docks, clean facilities and the cheapest fuel in the state (gas and diesel). What they don't have is a pool or CATV...you can pick up a few over air stations as it's fairly close to the City...but bring some movies on DVD. I think BillyIII installed a WiFi shot there too, but I have an air card, so I didn't need to access WiFi.

I've never transiented at Pt.Pleasant or Barnegat....Others may be able to provide more info for those ports. There are a few basic marinas in the Forked River you could consider, and there are two nice restauarants right on the river also.

We used to go to Pt. Pleasant all the time and enjoyed it allot. There is no where to stay close to the beach (walking distance) in Pt. Pleasant. There are some marinas on the Brielle side that are ok as well but you may rock n roll when the fishing boats go in and out.

If you dont mind taking a cab to the beach/boardwalk and you can get into the marina check out Crystal Point Yacht Club. We used to stay there and it is very nice. Floating docks, pool, nice bathrooms and showers.

On the inside of the Point Pleasant canal there are a few marinas in Bayhead but do not know much bout them.

I've stayed in Brielle. Although, cool and fun place with number of good restaurants all around you we were awake at 5am by all the fishing boats traffic. I usually sleep much better on the hook. I like Forked River, we go there for change of scenery few times a season. We stayed at Silver Cloud Harbor Marina, it's quite and has pool and is very cheap, other than that nothing special. Boat taxi takes you to restaurants in the area. This marina looks much nicer, I'll try to stay there next season.

I can give you a bunch of ideas for Barnegat - I'm in Forked River - couple marinas with overnight slips available, couple restaurants/bars on the water. Not much to walk to, if you have bikes that would give you a couple more restaurant choices. Tices Shoal is directly across the bay, great anchorage to overnight, walk from the boat to the boardwalk across Island Beach State Park to the ocean, weekend get a bit on the crowded side (crazy) during daylight. Marinas on Long Beach Island wouldn't be a bad choice either and there you can walk/bike ride to all kinds of restaurants/activities etc. Might be worth a night or two on LBI and then Tices and FR?

I'm actually looking into heading up to NYC for a night or two for a change of scenery...
