So the NYers have a preparation commencement thread, I thought I would start one here for those of in the Chesapeake.

I was going to springerize this weekend but it looks to be pretty bad thunderstorms Saturday so I am goiing to wait until next weekend.

What about everyone else.

My boat is in the water and all I have to do is rinse the antifreeze from the fresh water system and we can go.

The waverunner and boat are in the garage; the waverunner is ready to go but I haven't done squat to the boat due to the hand surgery. The floating dock extension is on blocks in the side yard for the same reason. Since I'm limited to lifting no more than 5 lbs with my left hand until mid-April I'm kind of in a holding pattern. I can probably have the boat ready in a weekend once I'm permitted to lift more than a beer so I'm sure I'll have the boat splashed by mid May. The waverunner will stay on the trailer until my daughter shows up and demands that it be launched and the dock extension will probably not be finished until sometime after my late June retirement.

I'll take a couple of weekends in April to spring-ize and then launch the last weekend in April.

Mike, sorry to hear about your hand surgery; been there, done that on several body parts that have kept me off schedule over the years. Contrats on the retirement!

Taking the boat to BOE Marine on March 16 for install of a Furuno FCV-585 and Airmar 1000w thru hull xducer. Planning on picking her up on April 6 and then will be itching for the end of tax season to get out on the water for some rockfishing.

We last boated overnight in 12/24/11. We spent last weekend on the boat. We're at our ski place in SW PA this weekend to close that down and will be back on the boat next weekend. Since I have outboards, I never winterize (I have USCG approved heaters in the important places). I'll finish up my autopilot install next week and hope to test it next weekend.

LET BOATING ON THE CHESAPEAKE BEGIN!

Mike, this year we'll come back to SP and have dinner together on that super grill of yours!

I had an engine pulled end of last season to get the gen set out to get it fixed. The gen set is repaired and in my garage. Had all the belts, pumps, hoses, starters ,,plugs, wires, caps , manifolds and risers replaced on both mains and the genset. Had the lower unit replaced In both out drives. All complete and will be installed week of 3/17- my mechanic comes back from Daytona Bike Week on that date. Broke college age daughter home on spring break next week, needs money, and is set up to paint bottom and wax.

Hope to launch just prior to 3/31 as we leave for Aruba for a week on that date.

in the water all winter, used it a few times as the temps have great a few weekends, right now redoing the teak, haul soon to sand paint and wax...move to new marina in Deltaville 1 May..

Washed and waxed then installed the registration numbers on the new Whaler. I bottom painted and installed new zincs on the Cruisers. Gonna polish and wax the Cruisers next week, then I'm done/ready.

Probably the only good side of being laid off recently :) :(

Since I'm a temporary live-aboard at the moment, we stayed in the water at Anchor Bay. Had her out last week on that nice 65 degree day, but spent this week's 70 degree day down in the engine room trying to diagnose an aft bilge pump issue.

Gonna have her hauled at the end of March for a pressure wash, bottom painting, zincs and waxing. But I have loved being able to at least do a little ride here and there on warmer days...

All I have to do is hit the down button on the lift. Will probably do so in a couple of weeks. Then sometime in April I will have it pulled out for a couple of days to do the outdrive service and to clean and wax the hull.

Mike

I decided that this year was the year to sand the bottom and start new with the bottom paint. After some hard thinking I decided that the best sand paper was green and had pictures of Ben Franklin on them. Last Thursday I went to the marina where the boat is stored, and asked when they could have it done. I was thinking it would mess with my April first launch. They started yesterday nad will finish today! I could not be happier. If all goes well I will have it painted by the middle of next week. They also told me they want to splash it on March 30th. That works very well for me, I will take that week off and get everything done then. 23 days till splash!

April 1st - access to the boat to start getting her ready. April 15th - splash.

Everything is fully dewinterized and up and running. Hauled yesterday for a bottom cleaning and new zincs (which had not been done since last June) and took a short run up the river until the rain came.

Next Sunday it will be onward to Baltimore and the new home for the boat. Looking forward to the first trip of the season.
