Hello group, just wanted to get your thoughts on this estimate for winterization. Below is what my dealer estimated. I am thinking this seems way high??

Here is the estimate for 20 Hr. service and winterization. Change engine oil/filter, gear lube, remove drive unit and check alignment, drain engine refill with antifreeze, add fuel stabilizer, and fog engine. $399.95 plus tax. Winterize A/C unit $99.95 plus tax. Winterize marine head $99.95 plus tax. Winterize fresh water system $64.95 plus tax. Winterize 3 sinks and transom shower N/C on labor add for extra antifreeze. Winterize shower sump $49.95 plus tax.

My bill was $666.30 including tax.

We did not remove the outdrive but did clean the bottom.

The only thing I would question is 100 bucks to do the AC. On mine I blow out the system and put a little anti-freeze in the strainer.

Also my water system winterizing is all inclusive. Showers, sinks, sumps Vacu-flush.

Assume pink cost $2 per gallon in bulk and yard help gets $20 per hour.

Lets see, 5 minutes to pump one gallon of pink thru the AC. Yard cost, $5 your cost $100. Profit $95 - NUTS

Dump 2 gallons of pink in head or sea strainer depending on type, pump thru. Time 10-15 minutes. Yard cost $9, Your cost $100. Profit $91 - NUTS

That's mighty nice of them considering they are making out like fat rats on you already.

If your really worried about things being done right let them do the engines and drive but the other stuff is so easy a caveman can do it!

$400.00 seems way high for a single engine? Also IMHO pulling the drive after 20hrs is overkill (more like 100 plus).

I spoke with the dealer again, told them I just wanted the oil changed and flush the engine with antifreeze. I will do the fresh water system and head. I like $49.95 to winterize the sump, what a joke. That takes about 5 seconds to poor some pink into shower drain. Not to sure how to do the AC system, but will just place some pink in the sea strainer and turn on the AC to let it circulate??

Most yards will do the AC once the boat is on land. Take one gallon of pink, get a small hand pump, Camco sells one for this purpose, make sure AC seacock is open. Pump pink in the AC water OUTLET until the pink comes out the seacock. Usually takes less than 1 gallon and you can reuse the hand pump next year.

After the new boat purchase I had to switch to a cheaper beer. No longer can I afford to buy high price dock beer, I have to import my own!

New Boat = Less Beer???? *** NO WAY ***

New Boat = More Beer for your Pals/Gals!!!

Ok maybe not less beer, but no more expensive marina or dock beer. Those days of 9 dollar six packs are over. It now requires a trip to the store for large amounts of fresh beverages. Oh I will miss the lake this winter.
