Prop Cleaning

Hi There
Does anyone know the best way to clean props when the boat is still in the water? My other Question is when the boat wont get up on a plane is this caused by the props being dirty?

Props with growth will absolutly inhibit the boat from getting on plane. I just had the same thing happen. Do you notice alot of water dragging behind the boat and vibration? If you suspect the props, then there would also be growth on most running gear as well.
I went from 2800rpm at wot before scrapping, to 3800+ after props and gear cleaned by a diver, around $50 for a 36 footer.

Depending on your location, some areas with high growth rate of barnicles, boat owners often have their boat's running gear cleaned on a monthly basis.

If you boat won't get on plane, what is your WOT RPM? And what is it when your bottom is clean?

I see you have a 34 ft boat. Is it I/O or inboard? If I/O and you can lift your outdrives out of the water, take a dinghy type boat and get behind the outdrives while they are in the UP position. Use a stiff scrub brush and lots of elbow grease to clean the prop and the entire outdrive. This will make a big difference!
