i have an 18x26 prop. in a perfect world, the boat should move 26" foward for each prop rotation with a 2.00:1 transmision, at 3600 rpm the prop turns at 1800 rpm.
so in a minute i should move 1800x 26" or 46800"
which is 3900'. 3900 feet in 1 minute is 39 kts.
this would be the case if there was no prop slippage.
....
but, at 3600 rpm i might get 22 kts in with my boat..(9000lb albin 28 te, loaded)
...
so, 39-22= 17(kts lost to slippage) and 17/39=.43 so it looks like i have a prop with 43% slip.
seems quite high to me.
...
any prop gurus around?
thx
