Since we have not had a post here in over 2 months I thought I would start one . Who do you use to recondition your Stainless propellers in the Ocean county area ? Thanks Ed

I used to use Atlantis Propeller in Mount Laural which uses prop scan technology but I would stay VERY far away from them anymore. They don't honor the price they quote over the phone. Tried to DOUBLE the price on me and I was forced to settle on a price several hundred more than the original quote.

Contact Wildcat Proppellers in Chesapeake, VA and see who they recommend in the area. Depending on the shipping price you may be better off dollarwise as opposed to local.

I found the price reasonable and the reconditioned props were shipped to my door.

Has anyone used S&S in Flushing NY? I'm sending mine out soon and they are who my shop recommended. Price is average about $400 per prop.

I have 34/30 four blade Nibral props this is the estimate I got from several shops sight unseen it may be more not likely less. It's not so much the price as the quality of the work that concerns my.

Is J&B still in business ?, Ive been there twice and no answer at the door and the driveway looks like it has not been used in a long while ? Ed

Just called them this morning to see what there hours are and they are still in business. I have to bring my props in for reconditioning.

in NJ, the best place to use is Atlantis. trust me on this one

rommer...You must have got a quote for one prop or had severe damage

talk to Ray 856-231-0106. always honest

Ive had Ray at Atlantis tune 3 sets of props for me (long story)
Hes OK. Think I paid $180 a prop for 18x20.
Had them done quick all three times, quality was excellent and he spent some time educating me.

Sorry, nope. No damage and quoted "per prop", I got ripped off, pure and simple. The quality of the work was fine but the ethics are very low.

People need to realize that if you're going to pull stunts like that it WILL come back to bite you in the backside.

Did you call and tell Ray this? Doesn't sound like him. He fully explained everything to me several times. He offers a 1/2 price deal if you had props done there before and they fall within Class 1 specs, BUT if they are way out it'll be full service. Check your graphs...I bet you had a blade or two that was bent.Lot more work for them to bring it to spec. He'll measure them in right there while you wait.

Would you like to see the graphs? I have them on the boat still. They clearly show before and after and things were not bad at all.

What purpose would I have to lie here? Hell, I drove the props almost 2 hours in each direction because I heard the place was good. The fact remains that I was quoted one price and the final bill was MORE than DOUBLE the quote. I was able to negotiate the price back down some but it was still 50% higher than originally quoted. Ethics of a slug. That place will never get another penny from me. He could offer me a free tunning job and I would not accept since they blew all trust I had in them.

No, I'm just saying there is two sides to every story and you came slamming someone's business. "Not bad at all" - Does it show a blade out of Class 1 specs? I know Ray and had my props done there for years after other nightmares at pitch block shops. Nothing but great dealings with them. They do props right. I'd like to know more about the "quote". Was it in writing? Did he do these props before?

i had no problems with atlantis, i dealt with the owner who personally met me at his shop after hours to discuss my prop repairs. props were tuned, pitched and polished within a week
