Protecting aluminum Pontoons

Ablative bottom paint but with aluminum you first need to paint with the appropriate primer followed by a bottom paint specifically for aluminum which goes for about $200/gal.
 
I wonder if GeeBee's method of outdrive prep would help here? It's a sticky.
 
GeeBee's method is pretty much the deal if you want real protection.
 
Not quite ready to put on a bottom pain-thinking more of a wax or product to make algae removal easier in the fall-Thanks
