Hey everyone... this is kinda of a neat story for those of you out there. I just purchased a boat and had it surveyed. I just got it back from a 200 hour service as well. The boat is a 01 lift kept since new. The surveyor said the risers/manifolds appear to be in great shape. (He did not pull them just used a heat gun.) He said that they did not look original due to the lack of rust in the joints. (Ok thats good I thought)... I just got the boat back from the 200 hour service and asked the mechanic when he replaced the thermostat how it looked in there and he said everything looks great. Its well maintained. (So I'm thinking well sounds good!) I get back to the dock and since I still don't trust anyone I pull the bolts off the starboard riser and pull the riser out to have a look see.

Alrighty... I dont have any pics of the manifold side since it started to drizzle and I wanted to get everything back on before it started pouring. SFL T-storms.
The manifold water jackets were all clogged up with rust chunks.
Im very glad I pulled them. However the inner jacket was not rusted. I would assume it would not be long before it was.
Im guessing I caught these at the right time...agreed?
Hopefully this will serve as a salt water warning for everyone to check your risers out!
Anyway before my next startup I will be replacing them and the manifolds.
