Vic I have the Hold-N-Treat system with a PuraSan I have my owm 36 gallon holding tank. The tank has only a few gallons left in it. i assume I remove the cartridge and take the clear lines off. Do I suction what is in the PuraSan through the center cap that can be unscrewed? Is there a better way? In addition the Elegance drains directly into the holding tank. What should I do?
Thanks Bill

That's the way I would approach it, Bill. In the rush to get the Hold N Treat system out on the market, not a whole lot of thought was given on how to winterize it. But that seems to be the best way.

As far as the Elegance goes, it's OK to run pink anti-freeze through it and into the holding tank. From the holding tank, if it were I, I'd break the connection from the macerator pump to the Purasan, then jump-start the macerator pump and run it into a bucket. In the spring, run plenty of clean water through the head, and into the holding tank. Then do the same thing - run the macerator pump and empty the contents from the tank into a bucket and toss it over the side. You don't want to have the anti-freeze come into contact with the chlorine solution that the Purasan uses - bad things could happen.

All anti-freeze, regardless of the color and application, has glycol in it. Glycol and chlorine don't like each other and you could get an undesirable chemical reaction if the two were to be mixed.

Perhaps I could bow it out with medium pressure air? I think I will do what you said. To bad the unit doesn't have 2 or 1 drain plug. It is a fantastic unit. The Clorinator is already disconnected and cut off from the fresh water supply. I'll take a trip to the boat this weekend and your notes and go over it with the manager who takes care of my boat. Thank you Vic.
