I see many boats with various types of cavitation plate mounted hydrofoils. The principle of adding lift to the back end seems sound. The price/perf ratio seems to be quite good and installation looks easy, but I see many boats with no hydro foil. I can think of a few technical pros and cons mostly consisting of lift, drag, and stress on the mount/transom but I am looking for information from actual users. Do these things work and what are the pros and cons?
