Both of my trim cylinders on my Mercruiser 165 are leaking badly. They seem to function well, they just leak like crazy.
They are both leaking from the threads where the cylinder housing screws into the forward mount. This forward mount is where the two hydraulic hoses attatch to the cylinders. I took one apart and I see no visible area where a seal or o-ring should be? Is it as simple as sealing these threads? It came apart pretty easily, maybe it wasn't tight enough? Any help, thoughts, or ideas would be greatly appreciated. All the local Marine parts and service guys want to do is sell me new cylinders at $200+ each.
