I'm thinking about taking the Chaparral out tomorrow on the Ohio (above the damn), but I'm concerned there may be some junk in the water from the recent storms in the area. The boat is ready, very dependable and I have my portable marine radio, but I don't want to damage the boat.

Is there a "rule of thumb" for boating the river following a storm? Is it dangerous or OK as long as you use common sense? I've heard horror stories about logs floating a few inches below the surface and taking out props and outdrives, but I don't know if these are true.

On a related note, does anyone know where I can go for any additional information on river conditions in the Louisville Kentucky area? A million thanks....
