My 35 foot boat was kept in the water behind my house for the winter. Unfortunately I kept hatches and windows open under the winter cover for ventilation. I discovered Saturday that a raccoon moved into the boat and has been living deep in the walls of the aft cabin with her babies.
I called the Humane Society. They were no use saying only that they would not help unless the animal was sick or injured and gave me a lecture on not hurting the animal. They suggested leaving a light on inside the boat with loud music playing and it will leave on its own. I doubt it since the raccoon has babies and will not leave or move the babies until they are grown (so says the exterminator).
I called an exterminator. We can hear the raccoon but it moved the babies deeper into the wall and into the bilge. Can't get to it. Can only hear the babies. We set a couple of havaheart traps to catch the momma but no luck so far. The traps were baited Saurday night with marshmellows. Last night I tried tuna fish. No luck.
My boat is getting trashed by this thing and it's driving me crazy. Anybody have any ideas? Help!
