Need some advice guys! Raritan Compact quesion: toilet was pumping WAY too slowly - did go down but way too slowly with way too many pumps rquired. Why?

Have replaced the whole seal kit. Still pumps too slowly, not full, any advice?

Sounds like you have a Calcium buildup problem try running some Vinegar through the unit. How old is the unit?
It sounds like your holding tank vent could be clogged I am just throwing some ideas out there.
Bill

Many thanks for responding. Calcium build up where?

vent hose changed last year and the unit is fairly new - about 2 yrs or so.

appreciate any ideas!

Calcium can build up in the output hoses. Some vinegar can't hurt.

Since you replaced the seal kit, I'm going to think Bill's right an you should check the tank vent. Insects sometimes block them, especially mud daubers.

solved! thank you for helping! it was a feminine product! guess I have to put my sign back up!

That will do it all the time on most conventional and non conventional heads!
I hate those white and red mice!

We can't blame the feminine product as it was doing what it was designed to do; stop the flow! :-)

good one!

Guys, note that Raritan's "Compact" manual marine toilet was discontinued from production in 1992 - 20 years ago! Parts are scarce and will get even harder to find as time goes on. Might be time to consider updating/replacing it...

thanks for the 'heads up' Vic! We got a complete replacement valve kit at WM. Of course, had to take the hose apart, etc. to find the problem. What replacement head do you recommend for a small space?

I'd have a look at Raritan's #PHC. It has a very similar footprint and hose connection locations. But it has a larger (better) pump, with a lever-type handle for more leverage and ease of pumping.

Or, you can get just the pump assembly and flush lever (Raritan #PHIIPUMP)for somewhat less $$. The new pump assembly will fit on your existing toilet base (tube) and you can keep the existing bowl and seat. You would have to change the elbow fitting at the rear of the toilet bowl, and the connecting hose.

Les can get 'em for you, or you can call and talk to Raritan Customer Service for more details.
