Rebuilding DD 53 series fuel pump

Hi, All,

I'm about to rebuild the fuel pump on my Detroit Diesel 6v53 fuel pump. I've taken apart the pump, and the kit looks pretty straightforward.

Any hints or suggestions to mind?

And what about a light touch of Permatex between the halves (even though there was none when I took it apart)?
