Need your help guys, I have a 87 42' carver and want to refit the heads and system to something more modern quieter and less stinky. I currently have the standard 12v sea-water system that came with the boat and want to switch to something along the lines of the Sea Land Vacu-flush system. I am not too familiar with this topic and dont know where to start.Any pearls of wisdom or thoughts from the experienced folks as to the best system for this. Thanks in advance!

"less stinky"

Even old MSD's should not be stinky...

Not saying that you should not update the system, but it you are only doing it because of the odor, it would be easier to just solve the odor problem...

On a 10 year-old boat, there's better than an even chance that your connecting hoses have permeated (smell goes right through the walls of the hose) - depending on the quality of the hoses, it can happen in as little as 3 months.

Oftentimes simply changing out the hoses will cause the foul smells to go away.

Yeah we already replaced the lines, that did help but still want to refit to knock out the small odor that still exists and overcome some of the other pitfalls associated with the older system ie: flushing that sounds like a limb shredder or that first flush full of rancid sea water after sitting a month that knocks you over. thanks for the replies!

Thats's an olfactory memory that's hard to forget! Rancid seawater/waste and diesel fumes on a hot choppy day off the coast! I'll bet a lot of us have been through that rite of passage.
