I guess i need to address this to Les. Is it possible to set the regal owners section up like the way we used to use over at brand X? I.E. different sections for topics or will we just have to post all questions under the same section. I know there are other sections on this site for that but it was nice looking for certain post with going through the whole site. Just curious and very happy to have a new place to hang here.. Yes, that is a question that should be addressed to Les. But that being said, there is a section on boatered for issues and recommendations for the site. So that would probably be a good place to post the question. In my opinion, the biggest thing missing from this site is a viable search function. it works, but unfortunately, there is such great volume on this site that you have to severely limit the search. That would be the first thing I would change, but having sub-folders underneath the Regal site, could help facilitate matters as well. Oh and of course, more smiley options!
I'm reasonably sure that Les would be willing to accommodate sub folders for us but I haven't addressed it with him yet. I'd like to suggest we show him we are not a fly by night group and use things as is for the time being. After we prove our viability we can ask him to add the sub forums.

Searching has always been a less than 100% feature of boatered. There is a workaround thou.

IMHO, sub folders are not needed. If the subject line doesn't convey the contents, then the author needs to re-write it to be so.
There's a point where ease of navigating a site becomes a burden, and sub folders would create a PITA.

The event stuff is pretty much already covered on boatered already so no need for that. Some of the other categories as well. Steve's point is certainly worth consideration. At least we have a breakdown in case the majority decides that we should ask Les.
If I am playing devils advocate here as well, there is a lot of topics that we may discuss that is not just "Regal" specific. So in the old forum, we may have discussed the best ways to clean and wax our boat. But there is no reason to have a separate sub-folder for that here, because boatered already has a section for boat detailing, etc. and that is really a topic that is better suited for the larger audience of whose experience we would all benefit. So, as everyone explores this site, it might make sense to put those type of topics in other areas. Our friends from Canada may even want to open up a Canadian Boating forum with specific details of what is going on there, like was done for the Hudson River/Long Island and other areas. Bottom line, is that the old forum structure does not make sense to completely copy, but let's try and modify this structure to fit our overall needs. Just my 2 cents.

I'm still learning to use our new forum.. sometimes it's hard to tell what posts are new.. but I'm getting the hang of it. The folder will be pink on the left side... You can see who left the very last post, but not necessarily which topic it was for unless you go to the new post from the link provided.
I guess that's what I miss - is that link for each of the posts on the right side showing when it was last updated and by who..
