As a side note. When my bow mounted incandescent spot light died, I replaced it with a halogen unit with two remotes. One stays in my box next to my helm seat, the other is attached to the dash. I used the existing wires thru the bow rails so it was an easy install.
One night I was spotting my slip on approach, and every time I corrected L-R or up-down it went all wonky like it was possessed. I just shut it off because it was throwing my depth perception off. As I was half way in my slip some moron all happy excited came walking down the dock and announced that we had the same frequencies on our remotes , like we were suppose to bond or have a party or something. . . . .so while I'm trying to illuminate my slip he's screwing around with his remote. Now it seems perfectly logical to me that if a boat pulling into a slip 3-4 down from me, trying to navigate into a slip at night, . . . . .well, common sense ain't so common. . . . .the point of this rant is, I'm glad I added a master ON -Off switch to the remote. That prevents a stray signal from maybe turning your light on in your absence, and gives you the ability to kill it in case somebody else shares your frequency, or anytime for that matter. Another time I saw a spotlight just erratically rotating L & R during the day. Something had gotten wet, it was one of those absentee,behind in slip fees, three months of grime on it kind of boats.
