Does anyone know the correct method of renaming a boat. I have seen some imaginative tales of the correct way of doing this, and would be interested to see how many versions there are out there. The objective here is to avoid bad luck associated with doing this incorrectly.
One method seems to involve doing it at night or in the dark so the boat cannot see what you are doing, and wakes up in the morning with a changed name.
Another version has the name removed gradually and taking a specified period before gradually introducing the new name.
