My boat has an ice box, so I don't know anything on this subject.
A friend of mine wants to replace the refrigerator on his mid '70s boat. The old demised unit was the absorption type and was too rusted out to be worth fixing. Came off a 42' boat.
We get a lot of summer temps in the 90-100's. The older one never worked well in the hot weather. He wants a decent freezer section, too.
The boat has plenty of battery power and some solar for a little trickle charging. No genset. He uses engine power to charge batteries, for the most part.
What makes/types would you recommend and what should he avoid?
