Replacing Depth Finder with Fish Finder

I'm replacing a broken thru-hull Teleflex depth finder. I'm thinking about replacing it with a fish finder (garmin 300C) instead of another circle thru-hull depth finder. Thoughts? The price deifference between the two options is minimal. Thanks

I use both just in case. Sometimes the fish finder doesn't register in the really shallow spots on the south shore, like the amity cut.
