Replacing Macerator pump

Vic, it is solid fiberglass molded into the bottom of the hull. If it "leaks", I got bigger problems.

Joe, they just pass it through, your toilet really should have done any macerating at that point.

I have a question could the SeaLand discharge pump (in the boatfix link posted above) be used on a
Raritan H-N-T Purasan system? It seems like the hourly discharge rate is at least 4 times that of the Jabsco?

Wow, a 210 gallon holding tank; that's a lot of crap! [:-bigeyes] [:-bigeyes]

I hope it never springs a leak! [:-cry] [:-cry]

On the last Broward I ran we had an 800 gallon black water tank. It was so big that when they opened it up to clean and re-epoxy the insides you could stand down in it to well over your knees.

Empty of course. :-)

I don't use mine that often but I did notice a few weeks ago when I was out in the ocean I went to use it and heard the pump working but nothing came out the discharge, Could it have lost it's prime or something?
Again, I'm lucky if I use it once a year because I use the local pump out and don't run outside much. When I do run it, it is usually just to make sure it still works.

Did you switch the Y valve over from deck pump out to macerator pump? Did you open the seacock if there is one for the discharge from the pump? If these questions are applicable to you boat and the answer is "no" to the first one, then you need to know what the"run dry" tolerance is on your pump.

Yes, I switched over the Y valve but there is no seacock. The outlet is above the waterline alongside of my AC discharge.

What brand/kind of pump is it?

Not sure. It's not easy to get to. I'll have to crawl down in there the next time I'm down at the boat with some old crawling in the bilge clothes on.

Does it make a whine type noise or more like a rhythmic clunk

Had a chance to crawl in there today and get a look at it. It's a Jabsco.

If you have to replace it and have the room, I'd change over to a Sealand pump. If it's a pain to change and you really hardly ever use it, stick with the Jabsco.
