Replacing stove

I'm looking for some suggestions. I have a 47 Atlantic (basically, a Hatteras) aft-cabin MY. My galley has full-sized appliances. It's not very roomy, but it's nice to have full-sized stuff since we're live-aboards. Our stove died and can't be fixed. A new stove will not fit down the stairs from the aft-deck to the salon so it looks like we're going to have to remove the 'windshield' and hire a crane to lift it in through the window and lower it down into the galley. Seems like a major hassle, and expensive. Has anyone else had this issue?

Never had that issue, but stoves are put together at the factory from a pile of parts. It could probably be taken apart to the point where what was left would fit down the stairs and then be reassembled.

You could take the old one apart to see if it is a feasible option. You are going to have to get it out of the boat anyway.

This is something that s not unusual and there are usually better optiona to major surgery and expensive machinery

First, as mentioned above, see if the stove can be disassembled. Years ago I did just that for a washing machine... Took the case up, folded it, etc...

Also, see if some trim pieces can be removed around the doors, to get enough room. I recently did that to get the full size fridge out of my old galley down.

If finding a replacement that fits is a challenge, consider getting a separate cooktop and oven, or even convection/microwave/hood combo. They work almost a well as a regular oven and take a lot less space, allowing you to recover space for storage. I just installed a two burner Glass cooktop in my new galley up and love it. Realized that we never used more than two burner at a time anyway and the smaller unit gives us mor counter space. The one I got is from Ramblewod Green, made in the US and very well built.
