Hey all.

Well as one project boat comes to an end, I finally came across a boat that I have wanted for years.

a 1972 18' Glastron in GREAT SHAPE, great shape to means no stress cracks, or blemishes. The hull is a beige and dark green. I know dark colors are hard to restore..Painting is NOT an option..

I have a feeling I am going to get a couple responses of Buff Magic and ProPolish...

Any thoughts or input would be great.

Thanks

I haven't used Buff Magic or Pro Polish as they haven't been available in this area. I've used Meguiar's products mostly and once used 3M HD buffing compound but didn't like it at all. Too coarse of a compound, toxic clouds of silica and easy to leave swirl marks was the result.
Try Meguiar's HD Oxidation Remover but be aware that a 1972 boat probably didn't have that high luster shine that boats in later years had. I think it was the quality of the gel coats available back then.
Follow instructions on the bottle and buff 'til it's almost completely gone, then wipe off with a towel. All buffing products are sensitive to the correct way of buffer use. See the sticky about buffing procedure in this section.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info.

Im not expecting this boat to have high luster. Im looking for a little luster, but more importantly, just a clean look.

the Meguiar's 3 step kit is a good item, contains Ox. remover, polish and wax. In this case, because you want to bring back some life to it, a polish step is recommended. In some cases, like newer boats, it can be skipped.

Damn I was gonna say a chainsaw, but your "classic" is apparently in better shape than mine was!
