Ridiculous ? HP for a 10' inflatable?

go with the 9.9 or be disappointed
I had mine in the Bahamas and everyone that had a lesser motor was selling theirs to move up

I strapped my buddy's 2 stroke Merc 15 onto my Achilles 9'6" wood floor, inflatable keel dinghy. It was a handfull! Here's a video showing it in action, but I had to hold onto the painter to keep from being thrown out the a$$ end. Great fun, but not at all stable at top speed. An 8hp or 9.9 would be much better, IMHO.

I am really happy with the Yamaha 8.

Quieter than the Merc.

Seems like all the exhaust goes out through the prop, too

at 100:1 there is far less smoke

The built in handle makes it really easy to lift and set on the dink, even without the St Croix mini crane.

THANKS TO ALL FOR THE GREAT INFORMATION !

For any of you that are tired of wrestling with 80-100 lb inflatables and 80-90 lb motors on and off the swimm platform, take a look at the Saturn K Boats. They're a cross between a kayak and inflatable. They are 42" wide and 12-16ft long and very light. I sold my inflatable this past summer and boat the 12 footer and a used 2.5 Yamaha. Total cost $1100 Each weigh 54 lbs and the K Boat is easy to keep on the swim platform without davits and the motor is easy to put on and off the boat. It also planes with one person (not 2) and suits us just fine for limited use and distance we need. Sometimes simple is better.
