Rogue Wave question

I use my phone or my wife's Ipad all the time to check it just open the address Kurt posted and it will open the home page and give you access to select a hotspot.

You have "wives"? I'm not sure if I should congratulate you or pity you. :-)

Interesting last weekend I spent the night on the hook in Bowline pond about a mile from my marina while I was there I found my Rouge was dropping the connection often when I returned to dock it worked fine again. Mike I don't think there is anything wrong with you settings I think the issue is the hotspots you are connecting to may be over crowded and dropping connections whenever they go idle. As long as I was using the connection it stayed connected but if I stopped for a little bit it dropped me.

When you return try connecting to different hotspots even ones with weaker signals you may find one that will keep you connected. Like the one near Haverstraw which you should be able to pickup from PBM. Let me know how you makeout.

Mike, better late than never, when using Windoz 8 or 10 go to "wireless properties" and change the "bandwidth" setting from 20MHz to 40MHz Automatic to 20MHz only. This should resolve the connection dropping issue.

I'm using windows 10, where do I find that, Bill?

Mike also check under power settings that the wireless card does not shut off when the computer/ tablet remains idle.
I would change that setting to always on in both the plugged in AC powered mode and or during battery operation.
It could very well be a combination of settings causing your problem. Check the WiFi and power savings management/ settings causing the WiFi connection to be terminated by the Windows 8.1 through 10 OS. In addition you need to check the wireless settings mentioned in other posts.

Here is a 3rd setting I would change under Wireless Network settings changing Roaming to the lowest value or disable it if you can't change the roaming value.
I believe the real culprit is the 20/40MHz bandwidth setting being changed to 20MHz only will resolve your issue. I'm not a big fan of Windoz 8.1 or 10.
I have a newer Toshiba tablet that has 8.1 in it and I was having the same problem with dropped connections through my Xfinity X1 platform's wireless router. The problem repeated itself using my WAVE EC/ER/AP unit (basically a ROGUE with a built in access point in one box) until I changed the bandwidth setting.

I know it's an old thread, but I purchased a Rogue Wave Pro, and want to hook it up to a router to a wifi network.
First, I assume you can use a standard router/AP unit, such as a linksys. Any pro tips on how to make this work best?
Finally, how does the rogue handle networks which require web authentication, where it will connect, but you need to open a browser and sign in to be actually connected?

7.54 FW I believe.

Thank you all

Ed

I'm also looking to set something up as our marina wifi is horrible. I get a good signal but it's just very slow. Someone mention and ubiquity nano??
I'm not looking to dump a lot of $$ just a basic set up to improve my overall connection.

Yes you will open a browser and choose the network you want to connect to and it will prompted you to enter the network key.
