I just installed a new 5.7l mercruiser w/ old alpha 1 on the port side of the boat. Computer checks everything is good revs ** 4-4.6k in neutral both engines but when put into gear I can only get about 26oo rpm on the new engine? it will not go onto plane and seems a bit sluggish. the props are correct but maybe I spun both hubs or they are not on correctly. regardlress i can only get about 8-10mph when it should go 40+mph. is there some sort of computer override when in gear which would stop the engine from going over 3krpms?
Tomorrow it comes out of the water again and we try to see if the props are on correctly and the hubs are ok. If not any suggestions?
