Ruh-roh, not looking good

I am staying and am as prepared as possible. I hope my old chris craft can survive one more time. The last time 37 boats went down in my marina.the one before that about 20 something

William:
are you and your family in a safe structure?

Prayers for William and his family and neighbors. It will be a long night for them.

Stay safe. This looks like a real deal storm.

be safe William....been through many hurricanes over here in the pond...none are ever the same and scary as hell when in the middle of them. good luck

I hear you, brother. This thing reminds me of Michael 10/10/18 in Panama City , which destroyed my business and most of my home. Stay safe. You are likely off-line now as infrastructure dies...

One hour until showtime. I will be staying in one of my apt buildings. it is brick with slate roof and solid wood walls through out. Built in 1929 and is a very strong building. the last 2 storms we lost a few window panes and that was it. I spent the day chaining my trailers to tree stumps and went to the boat to retie my lines. I spent 2 hours doing that....looking at it then redoing...looking again then redoing again. we will get 6 or 8 feet above the dock. Tie the lines high so the boat can rise. I am in a covered wet slip. Thanks to all for the well wishes.

its is certain we will lose power and maybe internet so it will be a while before I can post again.

Same here Dan. I keep checking hoping we'll hear from William.

Looks like the storm tracked east of him. Must have been because he had the no hurricanes sign on his computer

Hope he is OK. I'm at the each in Gulf Shores and the water is topping our sea wall. The Gulf is still so rough the water ca not go back out. There's another one in the Atlantic already. The next 6 weeks are dangerous times...

I know some folks in the same general area as William and they lost power for about 24 hours. Some folks are still without power so he may be in that situation as well.

Just got back power back about an hour ago. Thanks to all that were concerned for me. We got lucky as it made a last minute turn to the east slightly. It came in at Cameron which is about 35 miles east of here which put us on the western side. Its amazing what a difference a few miles makes. We did not get much rain and the only damage we had was from fallen trees. No building damage except those that a tree fell on. Maximun sustaiined winds were only 60 mph. The power company said the grids were damaged so we will have rolling blacks outs the next 2 weeks as they work to get them all back online. My generator worked flawlessly despite being stored for yrs. There was no damage to the old chris craft at all. it was as I left it. She is a tough old girl....went through the shed during Rita and Harvey while more than a third sank in my marina. Prayers for Lake Charles. It was torn to pieces like we were after Rita. I have learned that the most important things to have are water and gasoline....and tenacity.

Just got word that power is on for good. No rolling black outs.

Excellent news William! Happy to hear you are safe and well!

Excellent! Hopefully the rest of the infrastructure holds up as well as you did. Don't forget to pickle the genny again. It sounds like you did a good job last time!
