How do you fish a wire from starboard engine room to helm sation on bridge for a rudder feedback for an Auto Pilot
Carver 396 ---

Ducktape it along the outside of the hull, then up through an open window.

Just kidding, I have no idea but good luck.

There has to be a chase somewhere. First open up the helm and see if you see some sort of tube with wires coming out(that will be your chase), next get in the bilge and look for that tube. Once you locate the chase, use a snake to fish the tube. I would suggest you pull two strings through the chase, use the first string for your new wires, leave the second string for future use.

Once you locate the chase, there may be a string already there, if so, attach another string and your new wires.

I believe the chase is n the port side going up to the bridge...it's beens a while since I've seen one rigged, but I think I'm correct.

i had no idea where the chase was on mine until recently and then i couldn't believe it when i finally found it. to get to mine, i have to remove the full sized fridge (which is on the port side, extreme AFT of my salon), squeeze behind it, remove a wooden panel, and bingo, there it is going up the outside of cabin but hidden by the flybridge structure . different boat, but maybe the sadist that designed mine did yours too. when you finally find yours, send some "fish tape" through and then use the fish tape to pull your cable thru.

For a pull string, borrow an old trick used by telephone guys.

Get a string twice as long as the chase, then mark it in the center with a Sharpie.

Pull the string into the chase, then attach both ends of the string permanently to a nearby screw or other appendage.

Then pull the string to one end, and coil up the remainder. Put it into a zip-lok bag or something similar to protect it.

When you need to pull another wire, uncoil the string, then attach the wire to the black center mark. Then pull the string the other direction. The wire will get pulled through the chase, and the string will now have its excess on the other end, ready to be pulled back or recoiled for storage.

Maybe a bit like flossing, but you get the idea. You'll have a permanent pull string that can be reused many times.
