Sad day, Haul-out Day

On behalf of all southern boaters, allow me to express my heart fellow sorrow at your all's winter loss!!!

Don,
We are pretty shielded from wind at my work. We don't set exact schedules for pulling, just have peiople bring their boats when they are ready...we have space set aside for people to dock their boats. Luckily, they don't all bring them at the same time. Some of my dock partners have experienced what you have described, and it doesn't sound like fun. The one place is "first come, first served", but when several boats show up at the same time, mass confusion sets in.

Appointment here in Annapolis, with delivery the day or night before, and they jockey your boat to the lift well, via push boats etc. certainly saves some embarrassing moments. They do stay pretty much on sch. with 3 lifts working all day.

Wood, screw you! Get off our forum. At least we have water up here (which will soon turn to ICE). :) :)

I generally go out on a weekday -- Monday or Tuesday for just that reason. It is pretty quiet. Still takes a good couple of hours to pack the remaining junk, fill up and pump out, haul, power wash, and block.

My boat is out of the water also... For 2 more weeks...

Customer service is the name of the game these days in tough economy - they better start figuring out a better way. You guys experience the same thing or is it just my marina?

Gotta say Don,
We are pretty happy with our homeport marina, NorthPoint, in Winthrop Harbor, IL.
You schedule your haul-out, bring your boat over to fuel / pump-out dock on that day, witness the pump-out, toss the kid the keys and they do the rest while you sit and watch in the warm waiting room eating complimentary bagels and drinking free coffee. You can drive your boat into the lift bin if you want, but most do not. Doesn't matter if you paid for inside or outside storage either.Like I wrote before, we are happy with the service they provide.

Glad the new bottom paint held up!
Sorry about the rub rail though, hope it's an easy and cheap fix.

Bob

Easy fix - screw out old, screw in new rail!

Just honks me off that I just completed replacing the final rail last spring and had her looking the way I want. Oh well - another winter project task on the list.... welcome to boating!
