The City bureaucracy is at it again!!! This Thursday (4/20) the City Parking Advisory Board will consider an ordinance that will severely restrict your ability to enjoy the use of your boat. The ordinance would:
- require you to register your boat with the City
- require you to park directly in front of your residence
- require a permit for overnight parking
- limit you to 72 nights per year
- limit you to maximum of 3 consecutive nights
- charge you up to $3 per night for parking
- require you to pay for out-of-town guests
Existing law already limits parking to a maximum of 72 hours (3 days) before being ticketed. There is no need for a new law – enforcement of the existing is all that is needed. If you want to be limited in the use of your boat AND pay up to $216/year for the privilege of parking in front of your own home, then do nothing. If you feel this is another attempt to regulate your life, then send your comments opposing this proposal to Melisa Tintocalis (mtintocalis@sandiego.gov), with a request that copies be provided to the Board at the hearing. Melisa can also provide you with the full text of the ordinance. Better yet, attend the hearing at 202 C Street, 12th floor. The only way this is going to be stopped is if all trailer boaters object.
