We went for a joy ride on a friend's 34' Sea Ray. At low tide, we were churning mud going out the harbor. (just south of the gas pumps). His boat can't be drawing that much. I wonder about the larger boats in the harbor. I would stick to the higher tides for this marina.

FYI only

Tell your friend he needs to have his engines flushed. That mud can get stuck in the engine's channels causing blockages over time. That will lead to overheating, etc.

The san leandro marina is silted up I had the same problem in my 18 foot bow rider. Local news papers say they dont have the money to dredge and are thinking about closing it down :(. Too bad since it is the nicest marina around.

Yeow! Those pictures are crazy! Altho in one of them you can see from the rocks how high the tides get, that's obviously a -1.5 or -2.0 tide. Still, it's no good.

Similar thing happened at Alviso/San Jose. The city had a nice though small marina built, but didn't plan for necessary maintenance and dredging. Being at the very bottom of the south bay, this area is first to silt up, so it didn't take long before the boats had to move or be encased in mud. Yuk.
